Experienced Fircrest Fence Builders

The call we get most often from Fircrest is not about a new fence. It is about one that has started leaning, usually after a wet winter, on a property where the original posts went in decades ago. We are Tacoma’s fence specialists working in a city that is almost entirely surrounded by Tacoma, and the housing stock here means replacement work outnumbers new installation by a wide margin.

Why Fircrest Properties Needs Fencing Built for Older Lots

Fircrest covers roughly a square mile and a half, and much of it was laid out well before current fencing practice settled. Goodrow’s Fence & Deck sees the same conditions across the city: compact, largely flat lots; boundaries shared closely with neighbors; and a tree canopy that has had fifty years or more to establish. Old postholes are rarely reusable, because the surrounding ground has usually been disturbed and no longer holds. We dig fresh, and we set to a depth that suits the soil rather than a default figure.

What We Handle Across Fircrest

Cedar, vinyl, ornamental iron and chain link, plus gates and deck work. On tight Fircrest lots where every foot of the boundary is visible from both sides, vinyl fence installation is a common choice because it looks identical to the neighbor’s garden and needs no staining. The trade-off is fewer style options than cedar and a higher cost up front. Cedar gives you five styles and a natural finish but wants sealing every few years to reach its full life. We will lay out both and let your priorities decide rather than pushing one.

How We Work in This Part of Pierce County

Estimates happen on the property, free, with no obligation to proceed. We measure, discuss materials, and give you a price before anything is ordered. William Goodrow has owned and run the business since 2006, so the person quoting your job is accountable for it through to the final walkthrough. We hold a BBB A+ rating and the 2023 Angi Super Service Award, and we are licensed, insured, and bonded in Pierce County.

What to Expect When You Book

A confirmed start date, material delivered to the site, and a crew that works the job through rather than splitting time across three others. On a standard Fircrest back garden, most fence installations finish inside one to two days once material is on site. Gate automation or unusual ground conditions can extend that, and we tell you which applies to your project at the estimate rather than after the deposit.

About Fircrest

Fircrest is a small incorporated city of around 7,200 people, bordered by Tacoma on most sides and University Place to the west. The housing is predominantly detached single-family homes from the 1920s through the 1950s, set on flat, tree-lined streets with modest frontages. Because the city is so compact and almost fully built out, nearly all our work here is replacement of aging fencing rather than fencing a new plot.

The review theme that shows up most consistently is pricing holding from quote to invoice. One customer wrote about getting two other bids and feeling both had tried to take advantage, then coming back to us for a second project afterwards. On small-lot jobs like most Fircrest gardens, the total is low enough that an unexpected add-on at the end is genuinely annoying, which is why we price the whole scope up front.

If the fence is going, the gate is often not far behind it. Sagging hinges and dropped latches are the usual symptom, and our driveway gate options cover both pedestrian and vehicle gates, manual or automated, so it can be handled in the same visit.
